September 2020 Paper Pumpkin

 Good Morning Stampers!

I know it has been eons since my last post. I stopped blogging when my father passed away in January 2017. He was my hero. I feel so blessed to have had such a loving and caring dad. It left a terrible whole in my heart and I just needed to be there for my mom and sister. I did start creating again later that year, but never got back to blogging. I'm going to give it another try. I'm hoping it will help me get out of this funk I'm in now due to Covid-19! Like everyone else, I miss just being able to jump in my car and go run errands and not have to worry about getting sick! I think the thing I miss the most is going to concerts with my boys. The last one I went to was in January. I took them to see a crazy, loud, metalcore band called Motionless in White. I've been into heavy rock music my whole life. Well, I considered it heavy until I started listening to these guys and other amazing metalcore bands. That was the best concert I have EVER been to! I'm no Spring chicken either! I turned 50 this year! I was so looking forward to having a big party and spending it with friends and family and the virus took it away. At least I was able to spend it with my hubby, my 2 sons and my dogs. One really special thing happened this year. My son, Brandon, graduated from high school. It looked like the virus would ruin that too, but they wound up having a car parade for the seniors and after so much talk of no graduation, the county decided to have a tiny, drive-by graduation. You literally drove up to the front of the school and got out of the car with your graduate, they would call their name and he walked across the little stage and family was right up front and able to take photos. Then he walked over to a booth, got his "real" diploma and jumped in the car and that was it. Only 4 people were allowed to attend besides the graduate. Despite how small the stage was, it was set up just as if they were in an arena and it was very special to us. I'm so proud of him. He's such an awesome, considerate, kind and loving young man and I feel incredibly blessed to call him my son.

My Christmas Card

Good Morning Stamp Friends!

Today I would like to share the card that I made for Christmas this past year. I  knew when I saw the trees from the Peaceful Pines stamp set, that I wanted to make a scenery card with it. Easier said than done.

I first stamped the trees and tried cutting them out with the framelits, so I could pop them up, but there was too much of a white border, so they didn't look right.

I took a 3 3/4 x 5" piece of Whisper White card stock and stamped the full tree first, using Garden Green and Soft Suede Stampin' Write Markers. Then I cleaned off the stamp. Then I colored just part of the tree and stamped the other two smaller trees. I next stamped the deer from retired "Best of Christmas" stamp set and the sentiment from the retired "Greetings of the Season" stamp set.

I knew I wanted a pale looking sky, but I also wanted snow, so I decided to sponge the Softly Falling Embossing Folder with Soft Sky ink and ran it through the Big Shot for the sky. I used the Two Way Glue Pen lightly touching each of the snow dots and then adding Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. Then I added Basic Rhinestones to the deer antlers for embellishing. Though this card looks really simple, it was a lot of work and took me a good while to make 50 of them. I case a lot of projects, but when it comes to my Christmas card, it has to be my own design. I hope you like it.

Supplies Used-

Stamps: Peaceful Pines, Best of Christmas & Greetings of the Season
Paper: Soft Sky, Garden Green and Whisper White,
Ink: Soft Sky & Soft Suede ink pads & Garden Green & Soft Sude Markers
Other: Big Shot, Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder & Basic Rhinestones
